Tell Me Bytes: Chimamanda Adichie: The danger of a single story

Image
This TedTalks speech by novelist Chimamanda Adichie reflects the aim of our "Tell Me Who I Am" series.  Presenting more than one story about a people, not only to inspire a child but to help inform those around that child of all the possibilities in that child's future.

Watch A Robot Ride A Hovercycle | Popular Science

I remember saying a couple months ago that people will soon be riding those "drones" based on these designs.  Soon is almost here!

What Element Is H2o? H2O is the chemical formula for water which is a compound and not an element. Water is made of hydrogen and oxygen elements which make up its composition. One molecule of water has two hydrogen atoms, which are covalently bonded to a solitary oxygen atom.

Copyright 2014 M. Berry, Jr. Sulfurorsulphur is a chemical element with the symbol S and atomic number 16. It is an abundantmultivalentnon-metal. Under normal conditions, sulfur atoms form cyclic octatomic molecules with chemical formula S8. Elemental sulfur is a bright yellow crystalline solid when at room temperature. Chemically, sulfur can react as either an oxidant or reducing agent. It oxidizesmost metals and several nonmetals, including carbon, which leads to its negative charge in most organosulfur compounds, but it reduces several strong oxidants, such as oxygen and fluorine. Sulfur occurs naturally as the pure element (native sulfur) and as sulfide andsulfate minerals. Elemental sulfur crystals are commonly sought after by mineral collectors for their distinct, brightly colored polyhedron shapes. Being abundant in native form, sulfur was known in ancient times, mentioned for its uses in ancient Indiaancient GreeceChina and Egypt. Fumes from burning sulfur were used as fu…

Helium is a chemical element with symbolHe and atomic number 2. It is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, inertmonatomicgas that heads the noble gas group in the periodic table. Its boiling and melting points are the lowest among the elements and it exists only as a gas except in extreme conditions. Helium is the second lightest element and is the second most abundant element in the observable universe, being present at about 24% of the total elemental mass, which is more than 12 times the mass of all the heavier elements combined.
